Bünda Workout Class Review 🍑 in LA, Life, Wellness on 09/29/19Hello friends, and welcome to another open love letter to a recent LA discovery that I am now very, very passionate about. (See here if you missed my last post talking about my Malibu Wine Safari experience). When my sister and I were house hunting a month back, we found ourselves madly in love with Third Street and all of its restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and most importantly, its numerous fitness studios. One of those studios stood out in particular: Bünda, “Home of the Better Butt.” We stopped in from off the street to take a look, instantly intrigued by its pink lighting, neon sign, and adorable decor. We grabbed a business card, took our first class about a week later and have become regulars almost overnight! This class is unlike anything I’ve ever taken; it is so much fun, and I’ve noticed such a change in my strength, cardio endurance, and most importantly, my BOOTY. Keep reading to learn all the details and for my full Bünda workout class review! What is Bünda? Bünda is a 50 min cardio and strength training class that alternates between rounds on the floor and on the Stairmaster. In total, there are 3 rounds in each class, the first lasting 6 min, the second 7 min, and the third 8 min. Typically, the entire class will start on the floor for resistance training; you are assigned to your own station where there are sets of dumbbells between 3 – 15 lbs (with 25 lbs weights as an option for those who request them), resistance bands, weighted sandbags, a bench, and more depending on the day. Each day at Bünda targets different parts of the body (the weekly roster is Arms & Abs, Butt & Legs, Glutecamp, and Total Body), so in addition to working your glutes every class, you can work on developing your strength everywhere else as well. After you complete the floor exercises, you switch to the stairs to finish out round 1. While on the stairs, you are guided through different variations that work to hit all 3 different muscle groups in your glutes: starting at your chosen “base” level, you will do a mixture of single steps, “skip a step”, crossover steps, kickbacks, and 30-60 second cardio pushes where you will add 1-3 levels higher than your base level. After you complete your round on the stairs, round 1 is officially complete and you head back to your floor station to start round 2. Bünda is backed by science, designed by master level trainers, with an emphasis on proper form and finding a mind/body connection. The Stairmaster is killer for shaping the butt and legs, is low impact on the joints (unlike running), and allows for intense cardio without reducing muscle tone (when compared to cycling and running). My Thoughts On Bünda (and Results!) Well, like I mentioned, I am in LOVE with Bünda class. The instructors are super sweet, very knowledgable, and very helpful. Especially if you’re new! Which, btw, there always seem to be new people in class; it definitely is not a purposefully intimidating space like I think some LA studios are. The instructor is on their own demoing station, which is on a platform, so you can always see what’s going on. And, if you need help, they can easily come over to your station to assist with form, answer questions, etc. I will say, the time to do your reps goes by FAST. Sometimes I find myself running out of time and having to rush a bit. I’ve found that if I start doing my reps at the same time the instructor starts demoing the move, then I finish in perfect time. The class goes by extremely quickly. They play the best music there and always switch it up, which is a huge part of it. I also think alternating between the floor and stairs helps the pacing as well. I also love that the 6 – 8 min time chunks always feel manageable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a tough class with ample room to improve and get stronger. The cardio bursts are whatever you make out of them, but compared to like a Barry’s Bootcamp or something (which I tried once and didn’t love as much), the cardio doesn’t seem as “scary,” if that makes sense. I’ve been going around 4 times a week for the last 4 weeks and have seen major results already. Weight loss hasn’t really been the goal; I just wanted to tone up after a summer vacationing in Italy and enjoying the extra glass or two of rosé, ya feel? My clothes are fitting SO much better, which is a great feeling, and I’m just excited about exercise again! I really struggled to find myself in a good routine over the summer, and finding a workout I actually love has made it so much easier to get back in the swing of things. Oh, and their promise of your best butt? That’s no joke!! My booty is bigger, rounder, and more shapely than it’s probably ever been (Pure Barre is my other great fitness love, but it did make my butt on the small side when I was going 4x a week). I’ve never done proper, consistent weight training, and it’s exciting to see how drastically it can change your body. I forgot to mention that Bünda has literally the cutest workout stuff for sale (see below) and the outfits alone are a huge fitness motivator lol. The brand Year of Ours has become my absolute FAVE. The material is so soft and stretchy and their sets are just so flattering it’s kind of insane. Year of Ours set : Sports Bra ($62) | Leggings ($108) Bünda is located close to West Hollywood, about 10-15 min from Beverly Hills, and about 30-45 (depending on traffic) from Downtown or Santa Monica. It’s right by a ton of restaurants and coffee shops, and has free parking in the building, so definitely worth checking out if you are visiting LA! A drop in single class is $30, a 5 pack is $140, and they offer a 30 days before/after unlimited program for $179. Phone (323)852-3355 Address 8231 W Third Street, Suite C, Los Angeles CA 90048
