Weekend Rewind: Spring Comes To Chicago, Exploring West Loop, + The Camo Jacket You Need in Life, Spring, Style, Weekend Rewind on 04/08/19Every single season, (normally around this time of year but it has come as early as February), we are blessed with that first. warm. sunny. day. That first post-winter Saturday where the sun is out, the skies are blue, and it’s actually WARM. 65 degrees is feeling like summer weather, the world is all of a sudden your styling oyster (no jackets?! You kidding me??), and everyone and their mother comes seems to collectively out of hibernation to fill up every rooftop and patio bar in Chicago. There truly is nothing else like it; if you have ever lived in Chicago, you know this day, you love this day, you agree that we only put up with winter so we can be rewarded with beautiful weather such as this. Well my friends, that Saturday finally came! It was GLORIOUS and my bestie Sophie and I did not come to play. We decided we would start with a good ole’ reliable brunch, how else to start a Saturday #funday, and see where the wind took us. Soph had never been to the Allis at the Soho House and since it’s in a killer location (right in the heart of the oh so vibey West Loop neighborhood) and has delicious food and libations, I figured it would be the perfect spot to start our day. After we finished up at brunch (a couple bloody Mary’s and glasses of rosé later), we decided to go and do a little exploring in the area. West Loop is such a cool, walkable neighborhood— not sure if it was just the weather, but I swear every corner we came across was just super inspiring and got my creative juices flowing. I took notes of a ton of specific street corners, graffiti walls, and alleyways to come back and shoot some spring looks in! Speaking of spring looks, I wanted to share my outfit details because this Levi’s camo utility jacket is literally my new favorite thing that I own. I’m actually wearing it right now as I write this! It has a boxy, oversized fit, pockets all over, buttons down the front, this cool little star patch on the lapel. It’s relatively thick too, so it’s the perfect jacket to layer with a leather jacket or chunky sweater while we wait for the real spring weather to hit. I definitely will be wearing this into the warmer months; I think it would look so cute with denim cut off shorts, a white tee, and a pair of white converse or something! I also just got these AGOLDE skinny jeans from Revolve and cannot rave about them any more. They are the perfect light wash, unsaturated blue color, have a ton of stretch to them, but are also relatively thick. I specifically was in the market for a pair of super flattering high waisted skinny jeans that I could dress up or down, and these are exactly what I was looking for! I’ve heard great things about this brand and will definitely be buying more denim from them in the future. You can shop the rest of my outfit details below: We eventually made our way over Parlor to grab some beers an apps on the patio. We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip WITH the sides that come with the hummus plate (pro tip), but definitely will be back next time for their pizza. Other than Happy Camper, Parlor is my fave spot for ‘za in the city!! I absolutely love their rooftop. We finished our day with a last minute reservation at one of my fave sushi spots in the city, Sushi-San. They play tons of 90’s rap music, have super creative drinks (peep mine that came in the take out box!), and their food is unreal. Definitely order the sizzling crab rice and the octopus tacos if you ever go! Seriously a weekend for the books! Chicago, I love you.
