Styling Basics + Hair Clips To Try This Spring in Spring, Style on 04/01/19What’s goooood April?! Side note, how tf is it April already? I swear, the older you get, the faster time goes… Definitely have mixed feelings on that, but if it means that 75 degree patio drinking days will be here in a blink, then I think I’ll take it. Speaking of the weather, we’re definitely in a kinda weird transitional time when it comes to shopping and styling. We just had a couple of gorgeous, sunny, warm days in Chicago last week followed by a casual blizzard. Nice! Clearly jackets and layering are still needed for survival, but I’m also at that point where all I want to wear are spring looks, ya feel? During this period of life where winter and spring seem to co-exist in the same universe, my advice to you is this: use this time as an opportunity to save a little $$ by holding off on spring purchases until its, um, actually spring? Take inventory of your favorite closet staples (think denim, tees & knits, jackets, etc), and rely on these babies to carry you into the warmer temps. A nice, thick, light wash denim jacket gives total spring feels while providing a bit of necessary warmth; I paired it on top of my all time FAVE black ribbed turtleneck (I honestly don’t know what I’ll do in the summer, because this top is such a go-to of mine) and it was perfect for a sunny, 50ish degree afternoon. A black leather jacket, a white long sleeve bodysuit, and pair of blue skinny jeans is also a great basics look to keep in your repertoire. Don’t get me wrong, I’m as excited as the next basic bitch to start ordering all the floral off the shoulder tops and pastel colored dresses… it’s just not the time yet lol. Soon! Very, very soon. Denim Jacket (Levi’s) | Black Ribbed Turtleneck (Madewell) | Strait Leg Jeans (Levis) | Booties (Dolce Vita) | Crossbody (YSL) I also hopped on the hair accessories train and am so happy with my cute pearl hair clips that I just got! They were under $10 from Amazon, really good quality and the perfect size. I ordered two so I could stack them on top of each other, but you could also do one clip on each side of your hair. I have a feeling I’m about to accumulate a nice little collection of these; there are so many fun styles out there right now and they are the easiest, chicest way to spice up a look, especially if you’re in head to toe basics! To recreate this look, all you need is: – a black turtleneck – a pair of black jeans – a denim jacket – a black crossbody bag – your favorite booties!
