Plaid Mini Skirt and Ruffle Sweater in Fall, Holiday 2017, Holiday Outfits, Style, Winter on 11/09/17Now that we are moving into the winter months and Thanksgiving and Christmas are fast approaching, I got holiday outfit planning on my mind! I love how many opportunities there are to dress up this time of year— my style is normally pretty casual, but during November/December, I always tend to gravitate towards skirts and dresses when I’m shopping. I like to invest in pieces that I can re-wear in a ton of ways (I’ll typically end up with one “showstopper” look for Christmas/New Years, something fun and sparkly!). I also hunt for items that will look good layered up (think over the knee boots, long dressy coats, scarves, tights, etc) since Chicago is freezing in the winter! FYI, I’ll be adding all of my holiday outfit ideas to the Holiday 2017 tab on my blog over the next coming weeks, so they’ll all be in one place if you ever need some inspo 🙂 Ruffle Sleeve Sweater Plaid Mini Skirt (similar) Red Tory Burch Crossbody (similar) Gold Disc Choker Sequin Vega Earrings Black Booties Karen Walker Sunnies I shot this look riiiiight before it started to turn frigid… Bare legs definitely won’t cut it any longer, haha. I had “Thanksgiving Dinner” in mind when I styled this plaid mini skirt and ruffle sleeve sweater, both simple but high quality pieces that look killer together (how fun are these sleeves?!). Just dressy enough to signify a special event, but casual enough that you’ll be comfortable, and equipped to eat 20 pounds of turkey and stuffing. I realize that a lot of families are suuuuuper casual when it comes to Thanksgiving, but for those of you who are like my family and get dressed up for dinner, I think this would be a perfect look. For a colder setting, it would pair perfectly with black over the knee boots (I just ordered this pair for under $100!), and a long, black wool coat. Unfortunately, my exact skirt just sold out, but there is a very similar version sold at J.Crew. And for those of you who are in love with the print, it also comes as a coat, which is still available in all sizes. I have a feeling this skirt with be on repeat over the next coming months (fingers crossed this exact style is restocked!); I love a plaid mini paired with a chunky neutral sweater, or even a silk top, blazer, and heels. So many fun ways to dress it up or down! Shop the look here:
