The Fall Closet Staples You Need in Fall, Style on 09/24/17 Cardigan // High-Waisted Button Skinny Jeans // Black Silk Camisole // Karen Walker Sunglasses // Gorjana Star Necklace // Gucci Shoulder Bag // Booties // Mac Lipstick I can finally, finally say it— Happy Fall, everybody!! This weekend I finally cracked open a nice, cold pumpkin spice cider, bought myself a mini pumpkin from Whole Foods (along with pumpkin spice apple cider, pumpkin spice pancake mix, and two new stemless wine glasses that say “More Boo’s”), officially pulled out all my coziest sweaters, and let me tell ya, it feels daaamn good. Never mind the fact that it’s been close to 90 degrees the past few days… Including the day I shot this look (yeet). I am self-admittedly obsessed with this season; I love the themed decor, I genuinely just love all things pumpkin spice, and I LOVE the outfits. Like I mentioned, the past few days have been pretty balmy, but I am already planning out cozy looks featuring my favorite sweaters and cardigans, and am currently drooling over SO many booties. I definitely plan on having a lot of fun with my outfits this season, and want to try and push myself to think outside the box every now and then. I was really inspired by the styling I saw at New York Fashion Week! I saw usage of amazing prints and textures, structurally interesting tops and skirts, crazy bags and accessories, and it for sure has opened my eyes to a whole new set of racks while I’m out shopping. Now that I’m starting to feature outfits more appropriate for chiller temps, and more suited to activities such as apple-picking and pumpkin-patching (okay officially starting to annoy myself hahaha), I wanted to talk fall closet staples; as excited as I am to order some funkier tops and rock fab shoes a little outside my comfort zone, I definitely still recognize the importance of having good basic pieces that you can mix and match with other fall purchases. They all pair nicely when worn all together, and on their own will compliment almost anything. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see my top must have fall staples! Oatmeal Cardigan There may not be anything special about it, but it looks super cute on, and is just the ultimate layering piece. Throw on a cardigan with simple silk cami tanks like this one, layer up with flannels and roll up the sleeves to reveal a pop of plaid, or wear over cozy fall dresses. Black Silk Camisole Top I got this super simple Club Monaco black cami top over the summer and wore it allll the time. It’s $100 but clearly very high quality, features a classic scoop neckline that hits just right, dainty spaghetti straps, and looks just as good on its own as it does layered up. I also love that this one tucks into high waisted jeans particularly well! It’s not sheer, but the fabric is pretty thin, and you can get that perfect draped look when you tuck it into pants. High Waisted Skinny Jeans My closet will reveal that I tend to gravitate towards distressed denim; however, I think everyone needs to have at least one pair that are slightly dressier, crazy flattering, comfy, and just make you feel really great. I think skinny jeans are the best way to do this, and that said, I need to turn your attention to these high-waisted, button front Madewell skinnies. I’ve posted about them before on the blog, and I seriously wear them ALL the time. They make your legs look like they’re freaking 6 feet!! It’s insane. I also love the classic, saturated blue wash with a slight faded-ness, the cute buttons, and the surprise edge from the raw hems. Cannooot wait to rock these with all of ze sweaters, flannels, and all things cozy. Neutral Booties Love me some taupe! I love a bootie with a lower heel bootie that I can walk around all day in, and in a color that will go with everything; this light taupe color is awesome because it pairs well with both grey and nude tones. I love wearing mine with everything from flannel dresses to bootcut jeans and oversized chunky knits. Neutral Bag So, if you’ve followed me for some time, you’ll know that I’m all about the high low thing; I love a good deal, and being able to share high quality pieces for reasonable prices with you guys. Buuuut, in total honesty, I am a handbag fanatic and am forever lusting and dreaming over some new designer bag… My dear sweet boyfriend got me the Gucci Dionysis GG Supreme bag for Christmas last year (have I ever mentioned that he is the BEST), and it has been one of my favorites ever since. I love the mixture of textures and fabrics on it; I love the suede, I love the subtle GG print, I love that the giant buckle has dragon heads on it. It’s just the ultimate cool girl bag. It’s super versatile, I can wear it three different ways, and it just goes with everything. I’m definitely not suggesting you need to go out there and get this specific bag; for me, this is my perfect, go-to, goes with everything bag, which is for sure something every girl needs in her closet for fall. Some honorable mentions: I also wanted to highlight my newest lipstick obsession. Mac matte lipstick in Mehr has essentially stayed on my lips since the moment I got it— It is the perfect slightly darker nude shade that I have ever tried. Ever since my mom mentioned she thinks I photograph better with a darker lipstick (and she always knows whats up), I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect one. It was great staying power and isn’t too drying. Score. These oversized Karen Walker shades are also a fave of mine for fall; I picked them up last year (in black too!) and they are definitely my go to pair in the chillier months. I love the more dramatic look for September/October, and they also do a perfect job of dressing up a normally simple skinny jeans and sweater combo. They are a little on the pricey side but oh so worth it! Shop the look here:
