Everything You Need To Know About Like To Know It

What is Like To Know It? How do I use Like To Know It? How do I sign up as a blogger?

These are just a few of the questions that I seem to get on a regular basis 🙂 It seems like a ton of people are confused by what Like To Know It Is, how it works, and what the overall benefit of it is. Even my own close friends and family will ask me “What is that little heart in the bottom of all your pictures? Why do you always have a http://liketk.it/2sJGa URL in your Instagram posts?” I knew I had to confront this full on when my boyfriend’s sister told me “I just don’t get it, it’s confusing- Take a screenshot, and it’ll appear in the app? How do I even download the app??”

Okay. I’m going to take a few steps back and completely break it down for you guys, both from a user perspective, and then at the end I’m going to take about how it’s used from as a blogger, plus how you can get yourself signed up.

What Is Like To Know It and How Does It Work?

You see that little white heart in the bottom corner of this picture? And in the caption how it has @liketoknowit tagged, as well as a Like To Know It URL, and a couple #LTK hashtags? Well, that’s how you know that one of my Instagram photos has been enabled through Like To Know It! So in the picture above, if you like my jeans, my sweater, and my shoes, you can use LTKit to easily see where everything is from.

Okay but… what is Like To Know It? Basically, it’s a social based shopping service that allows users to instantly access and purchase whatever their favorite influencers are wearing. The company RewardStyle is behind this technology, and creating LTKit has totally changed the shopping game for both bloggers and consumers.

It used to only be web-based, but now the Like To Know It app has become the easiest way to shop! Here’s how it works. Download the app in the App Store and sign up (all you need to give is an email and password!)

After that, hop on Instagram. If you see @liketoknowit tagged in the caption, then you can get the details on it! Take a screenshot of the picture (here’s help on how to do that if you’re confused) and then go back to the app. The picture will show up instantly in the app, and will have little pictures of the items. If you click on one of the items, it will instantly send you to the URL page of the store it’s from.

Another SUPER easy way to use Like To Know It is by opening the app, and then searching for your favorite bloggers (example, just type in “theblondeinpink”) in the search bar. It’ll take you to their profile and have allllll of their LTKit enabled images all in one place. You don’t have to take screenshots, you can just click on any photo to see the details of where everything is from. Here’s what my LTKit profile looks like on the app! You can also use the web and enter liketoknowit.com/theblondeinpink to see all of my LTK images in one place as well.

I personally use LTKit ALL the time. I have favorite bloggers just like you guys, and I love how easy LTKit makes it for me to find out where they got their stuff! It’s my favorite way to shop because of how easy and instantaneous it is; if I see a blogger wearing a pair of shoes I like, I don’t have to search high and low all over the internet trying to find them, I can just buy them with a click of a button.

It’s also worth noting that you can always access the kind of info on my blog without signing up for Like To Know It- If you click on Shop My Instagram through the Shop tab on my blog, you can see all of my pictures, click on any one of them, and see where everything I’m wearing can be purchased.

How Can I Sign Up For Like To Know It As A Blogger?

Like I mentioned, RewardStyle is the company behind LTKit. I talk about them and my relationship with the company a bit here. While using Like To Know It as a consumer is free and accessible to anyone, using LTKit as a blogger is a by-application process only. As a blogger, LTKit allows you to make commission if someone buys anything that you have linked in your pictures.

RStyle needs to be able to determine a few things before allowing you to be apart of the program and start making $$ – They want to see if your Instagram and blog content is consistent and high quality. Are you posting outfits with clothes that people can currently buy? On your blog, are you sharing a URL for the exact shirt you are wearing, or is it a few seasons old and you are just sharing something similar? Same thing goes with Instagram; they want to see that you are regularly posting things that are on trend and current.

Before you apply, you’ll want to make sure you’re at a point where you have a nice little collection of blog and Instagram posts. You need to establish a bit of a track record beforehand. I’ve seen bloggers with less than 1,000 IG followers on Like To Know It, so it’s definitely not about the number of followers you have per se. But I do get a lot of questions regarding when it’s a good time to apply, how to boost your chances, etc. So, I wouldn’t focus on getting as many followers as possible, but to focus on the quality of your content, establishing a posting schedule, and styling outfits and sharing items that someone could go out and buy for themselves. If you feel like you’ve achieved this in a month, then go ahead and apply!

You can apply on the RewardStyle website (it’s really strait forward and simple, you just fill out a bit of info about your blog, IG, and demographics, you don’t need to answer any lengthy questions of anything). To be fully transparent, I know firsthand that this part can be really frustrating and disheartening. It personally took me three times before I was finally accepted in July 2016. It’s also difficult because they don’t provide any sort of timeline, or status of your application, so once you hit submit you just need to wait and see. You’ll eventually get an email regardless of what happens, either telling you that you could not be accepted at this time, or that you have been accepted and a RStyle consultant will be reaching out to you shortly. If you are accepted, they will provide you with some great educational info about how to “link” your products, how to post, etc. If you don’t get accepted, keep your head up and keep focusing on everything I mentioned above. Like I said, it took me a few times to be accepted, so just keep doing what you’re doing and try again in a couple months 🙂
