Bourbon, Pear, & Ginger Fall Cocktail in Food, Recipes on 09/02/17Happy September 1st my peeps! Seriously, where did this summer go? Not that I’m complaining… We had a bit of a cold front come into Chicago this week, I bundled up in my favorite cozy sweaters, and started planning all the fun things I want to do this season. I know the first day of fall isn’t until the end of the month, buuuut I couldn’t help myself from doing a little something to kick off the 1st! I’ve teamed up with Martell Blue Swift to bring you this sweet, gingery, and boozy bourbon fall cocktail. I am by no means a bartender and am all for simplicity when it comes to making cocktails. This one has a great balance of flavors; the pear pairs so nicely with the bourbon and just screams fall to me. Basically all you need to do is make a super easy simple syrup and then shake everything together! You can use a cocktail shaker but I just made do with a mason jar. What You Need (serves 1) 2 oz Bourbon 1/4 c. Pear Juice Ginger Beer to taste 1/2 Squeezed Lemon 1/4 c. Agave 1/4 c. Water 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Thumb-sized piece of peeled and diced ginger Simple syrup What You Do Start off by making the simple syrup: Combine the water, agave, ginger, and cinnamon and simmer in a small pot. Take it off the heat and let it sit for about 15-20 min so the flavors can really mix together. Discard the pieces of ginger and set aside. Add the rest of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker or in a mason jar like I did! Works just as well. Plus I just love jumping on any excuse to bust out my mason jar haha. Add the simple syrup, top off with ginger beer for a nice little surprise fizz, and garnish with a slice of pear. Cheers!
