Brunch in Chicago: The Allis Soho House in Chicago, Chicago EATS, Food on 04/07/17 Raise your hand if your whole entire day felt like it was Friday!! Ohh oh, this girl. It ain’t a good feeling. I talked to a few other people and they said it totally felt like Friday for them too. What kind of sick joke is that haha. Well, we’re in this together, guys! I’m kind of anticipating tomorrow’s 8-6 BIP alter ego work day to be somewhat of a grind.. Soo, to take my mind off the inevitable, I’m throwing up another Chicago brunch post at maybe MY favorite brunch place in the city. The Allis at the Chicago Soho House is a wonderful place for many reasons. First off, it is freakin’ stunning in there; chandeliers, sofas… So dreamy. It just has a really peaceful vibe and is super charming. Secondly, it’s a place where you can sip tea out of pretty porcelain tea cups and feel fancy AF. You can actually have a proper afternoon tea here, complete with a tiered tray stacked with assorted finger sandwiches and little bite sized desserts, and of course, tea or coffee. So fun to do for an afternoon activity. Their food/menu is also out of this world good! I have personally tried several things on their brunch and lunch menu and am always super happy with my meal. I love the space. I love the glittering light from the chandeliers, the high ceilings, the large windows, and the fact that it’s situated in my favorite little corner of West Loop; I think it makes for the best people watching. I would love to just spend all day here all camped out in a little nook on a sofa on their second floor. My Mom and I ordered the same salmon plate the last time we ate here; she ordered hers with one of those buttery delicious croissants and I had some grilled sourdough bread. Our breakfast plate was essentially do it yourself style avocado toast; you get buttery, creamy scrambled eggs, beautifully sliced avocado, smoked salmon, and roasted tomatoes. I smashed my avo on my bread, ate my smoked salmon with my eggs, and enjoyed my tomatoes on their own. Just in case you’re wondering how I tackled this baby. For the record, it’s all amazing. Francis ordered the smoked salmon plate and my Dad ordered the caesar salad with a side panini. I must say, this is a killer spot to just say F it and order that glass of rosé at 11 am. Especially now that beautiful, sunny days are happening more frequently; there’s nothing like sitting in a bright space sipping on rosé and hanging out in a super cool Chicago neighborhood. Not a bad way to kick off a weekend. Okay, SO. Saved the best for last. They have one of my favorite avo toasts of all time. It’s super simple too; but the key for me is using a really good chewy, textured, bread, mashing the avocado correctly, and putting on the right amount of toppings. The Allis serves theirs on a delicious multigrain, topped with avocado, a soft boiled egg, basil, lemon, and chili. It is super simple but the flavors pair SO well together. Also pictured is the baked eggs, which came cooked in a super flavorful arrabbiata served sourdough for dipping. Also super tasty. Happy Friday Jr. Everyone!
