Travel Diaries: Miami Lookbook in Miami, Spring, Style, Summer, Travel on 03/24/17 Viva Miaaaaami!! It feels so SO good to be back in this little internet space of mine after taking a tiny little break away to focus on my full time job. One of my biggest privileges at this stage in my life is the availability to work for an amazing company and grow my career as a technology consultant, all while working from home, which gives me the flexibility to work on all things Blonde in Pink! Last week the blog had to take a bit of a backseat while I met with my team members in the office, which is totally ok! Such is life, I try not to get to hard on myself whenever priorities come up. Like I said, feels good to have some free time again. And nothing screams “free time” like a little beach getaway! I last minute decided to crash my younger sister’s spring break trip down to Miami this week with my mom (my fam is ALWAYS going on vaycay without me. So rude. Not this time guys mwaha). I woke up at 4:30 to catch my flight down and ended up making myself busy at the hotel spa while I waited for the rest of my squad to arrive! We had a super packed schedule and I was snapping pics left and right (I just got the Canon Powershot G7 X Mark II and am having a ton of fun using it- review to come!), so I’m going to break up my trip recap into two separate posts. Tbh, I don’t really want to write a crazy long blog post in one sitting just as much as you prbly don’t want to read it. Anyway. This is Part 1: My Miami Lookbook. I’m going to follow this up with a full hotel review, restaurant review, and things to do post. This super crazy maxi dress is by The Pink Lily Boutique. My mom was sooo beyond skeptical when she first saw this dress hanging up in the closet, but she became such a fan after seeing it put on. I love it with neutral accessories, (my Gucci Soho has a super cute dupe, I’ll link it below), tortoise sunnies, and a super red lip. This Mac shade has become my every day go to. Is that super weird? It is a bright red cherry that really pops. I liked how it worked out with the dress, even though they’re both def out there. I’m going through this thing where I think it goes with just absolutely everything and is appropriate for any type of attire. My new go to jewelry look is really minimalistic gold necklaces. I’m starting to try and get my hands on lots of dainty chokers, long chain necklaces, and other pieces that just kind of sparkle. My customized “Meghan” choker is definitely something I didn’t know that I needed. I seriously wear it every day. I’m currently wearing it with a sweatshirt and leggings. It’s by Brook & York! The necklace also comes in silver and rose gold. You guys, these leather and gold glitter sandals are seriously a long time fave of mine. I have worn them for many springs, and many summers, and they still are in great shape. And they are from TARGET. They are also $20 and come in black! I love them very, very much. Here’s a little tip on how to fix smudges or unevenness around the corners and edges of your lip. It’s literally the easiest thing ever and what I do almost every day. Use the tip of a beauty blender or an eyeshadow brush and dip it in a little bit of your foundation and lightly run it over any mistake! Voila. JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. As much as I love shopping at popular online stores and at bigger retailers, I looove me some eBay. I think I paid like $20 and it worked out great! I had to be err, a little careful while walking around to make sure all of me was always tucked in place, but it was super cute for just lying out and being super obnoxious and taking pics with my sister hahaha. Sometime you just gotta do what you gotta do. ….. Also from eBay, I am SO sorry!!!!! I genuinely feel terrible about not being able to share where these are originally from. Sometimes those deals are just too good to pass on. The slate grey one is from a company called Sauvage Luxe and the brightly colored cut out one is by Jessica Simpson just in case anyone wants to try and track them down on eBay themselves…. To make up for it, here are a bunch of budget friendly one piece bathing suits that kind of reminded me of them and I thought were equally adorable. JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. I kept it simple with my Mark Fischer wedges and coordinating Clare V. clutch. I just got my hands on these wedges about a week ago after debating whether or not to purchase for over a year. I had heard that they were extremely comfortable, and of course, they are just the cutest things ever. I ordered my regular size of 8.5 and the fit was perfect. I won’t lie though… The first time I wore them, I had teeeerrible blisters on my upper heels within like 30 min. I realized it was from one of the seams; it just wasn’t super smooth and if you took your finger over it, you could feel that it actually was a little sharp… I ended up loosening the ankle straps which relieved some of the pressure and I didn’t have a problem wearing them the rest of the trip. TG! Because I was not about to return these babies. They also are notoriously out of stock, but luckily Nord’s and Bloomie’s are currently both carrying most sizes! Another Shop Buddy Love number- They really hooked a girl up, didn’t they?! All of their fun and bright prints were perfect for this trip. I’m usually more of a neutral girl, the craziness only seems to come out when I’m on vaycay ha. The print on this romper is THE best! It screamed Show Me Your Mumu a la Lilly Pulitzer to me. Plus, the ruffles, the OTS, the tie waist drawstring… So much goodness going on. I kept things neutral with my accessories and kept my hair strait and pushed back. I opted for a dark wine Mac shade for my lip just to keep things a little different and unexpected! Because of where our hotel was located and because the resort offered so many health and wellness based activities to do on site, we didn’t end up venturing into the city thaaat much. We spent one day exploring the Wynwood Walls, which was an incredible experience and a must do for anyone visiting the area. I’ll post more pics and a full description of the day on my next Miami recap post. We were walking around outside in the sun the whole day and it was HOT. My little Chicago self definitely is nooot used to the heat, so I opted to go for lightweight and minimal pieces to stay cool. For me, that meant casual jean shorts and a cute little tank top. I have been wearing this white peplum one nonstop! It also looks adorable paired with cardigans or moto jackets for cooler temps. It runs a little big so size down! It also comes in a whole bunch of other fun colors 🙂 JavaScript is currently disabled in this browser. Reactivate it to view this content. Okay, one more from Shop Buddy Love… Can I just have all of their things?! Something just feels soo good about throwing on a bright colored maxi dress right on the cusp of spring… I absolutely loved the details on this. It had a little slit, which is great for showing off cute shoes, and had a halter neck strap that I opted to tuck in to make strapless. I love that you can wear it both ways! This maxi was just super comfortable, hassle-free, and easy. Truth be told, I got back to Chicago last night but will probably be posting Miami pics for the next couple days, sorry bout it! Leaving was so so hard, especially since my sister and mom were staying on for another day while I had to get back to work, but luckily Chicago is supposed to hit mid 70’s today! Leaving the sunshine and beautiful beaches would have been just about impossible if there had been a snow storm coming in… But hey, knowing Chicago, there could be one tomorrow. Hope everyone has a fab Friday!
