My Skincare Essentials & Review Of YoDerm in Health & Beauty, Life on 09/17/16 #nomakeup #bathroomselfie #Iamtheworst #I’msosorry Hey guys! Today I’m talking about my daily skincare routine and sharing all my cannotlivewithout products. I definitely had a lot of ups and downs with my skin all throughout high school. Freshman year I started getting all of these raised, under the skin bumps on my forehead (super cute, I know), which I eventually saw a dermatologist for. I always dreaded having to go— it was just super inconvenient and annoying that I would have to make an appointment and see the doctor whenever I needed my prescription refilled. Eventually my skin cleared up as I grew older and for the past few years has been pretty hassle free. Until recently… For the past few months I’ve felt like my skin just isn’t as clear as it normally is. It’s like I’ll have perfect skin for a few days, but it’s always an indication that I’m about to majorly break out again… Which will then last what feels like weeks! It’s been a very frustrating cycle, I just haven’t been able to win! I didn’t think the problem reeeeally constituted going to a dermo… Plus now that I work full time it’s a lot harder for me to make any kind of doctor appointment without taking time off, which I don’t want to do. BUT THEN. A solution. I was reached out to from the people at the up and coming online site YoDerm to try out what they do. Here’s what they do: YoDerm is essentially you own personal, online dermatologist. No appointments, no taking time off of work. Everything is done online. First you make an account with some basic personal info and then you get assigned a ~real~ doctor based off of your state (note: you have to be over 18 to sign up). Then, you pay a $59 consultation fee. Next, fill out a survey describing your skin issues and upload various pictures of your face. Your doctor will make a recommendation for your skincare regiment and prescribe you the topical and/or oral medication you need to get your skin looking so fresh and so clean. You select which pharmacy you want to pick up your products from, and that is always where you’ll provide your health insurance information. You can pay out of pocket but personally I know that my products would have been a small fortune without going through insurance. If you are prescribed medication that is outside of your budget, just let your doctor know and they will come up with a different solution. It’s all about making you, the patient, happy and satisfied! I was prescribed two topical treatments: Acanya, a clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide gel used to prevent antibacterial resistance and decrease skin inflammation. I put this on during the day, just a little pea sized amount of my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chine. The second product, Tretinoin, is for nighttime, and promotes the shedding of skin to unclog pores. I was also instructed to get Glytone Mild Gel Wash, an over the counter cleanser that promotes cell turnover. And let me be honest with you guys. I didn’t really have any expectations when I started this new regiment but it has been a TOTAL game changer. My skin is baby smooth, so clear, so soft, so amazing. Usually before my period my skin will be at its worst, and now that time comes and passes without wrecking havoc on my face. I just really love how I was able to access prescription strength products without having to even see a doctor. Obviously this stuff is going to be stronger than your average run of the mill drugstore topical treatments, so if those kinds of things aren’t working for you then this is a great alternative. So convenient, easy, and hassle-free, and it really has made all the difference for me. Putting on makeup is easier because I don’t need to worry about covering up a bunch of blemishes, and I can even just walk right out my door without putting on any concealer or foundation and still feel super confident. Definitely give this site a try, and if you do let me know how it works out! Xo, Meghan
