I’m Going To Grad School! All the details on my school, program, and where I’m moving

So excited that I can finally, FINALLY share this news with you guys!! I’m going to grad school!! This has been a long time in the making and so much has been leading up to this moment (I actually found out March 16th and filmed this video that afternoon 🙂 ), and getting that acceptance letter was ultimately a really emotional moment for me. Not only was a lot of blood, sweat and tears put into studying for the GRE last fall and working on my application, but finding out I was admitted was incredibly validating. I had made certain choices, taken certain risks for a life of unknowns… I didn’t really know what my future would look like, and as soon as this plan formulated, it just felt like it was always meant to be. OH and there was also the fact that I only applied to this one school, to this one program. My plan was only going to work if I could be in this city, and this school. Soooo yeah, finding out I got in and could move forward as hoped was an amazing and beautiful moment. Always put yourself and your dreams and your ambitions before anything else, and know that any risk you take for that is always going to be worthwhile.

I’ll be the first to admit that my journey to grad school hasn’t been a typical one, but then again, I don’t believe there is one right way to do it. Every person and their circumstances are different. For me personally, it took me going through a significant life change for me to realize that I needed to make some other big changes in my life. I all of a sudden found myself in the perfect situation to write a new story, which ultimately came down to three important factors: 1) I felt it was time to spread my wings and leave Chicago (at least for now) 2) I was 3 years into my job as a tech consultant, something I always knew wouldn’t be my forever career path, and I was ready to pursue the industries where my passions and natural skill sets would actually be put to use and 3) I felt like that furthering my education and pursuing a masters degree was the best course to achieve this.
